He also dug 2 meter soil trenches around the Maipo valley in order to help him find the best wine land for Cabernet Sauvignon. Dug more 2 meter deep soil study pits through out his vineyard to improve management strategies. Through this work on soils, he has been able to establish the new D.O.: Maipo Andes.
